Love Where You Work: A Conversation with Maegan Brown of The BakerMama

Jenny's Corner, Organization

If you have not discovered The BakerMama yet, let us introduce you. Maegan Brown is a Dallas-based food creator, bestselling cookbook author, and mom of four who has built one of the most beloved food communities on the internet — with nearly 650,000 followers who turn to her for gorgeous boards, creative recipes, and real life entertaining inspiration. Her work is as beautiful as it is approachable, and her passion for bringing people together around food is evident in everything she creates. When Maegan reached out to us about her home office, we were honored to help. Here is how it went.

Tell us what your office felt like before we came in.

It had become completely overwhelming. I had been storing everything in bins for years, which worked really well for a long time. But over time those bins multiplied into more than 100 tubs stacked throughout the room — along the walls, in front of the windows, even spilling into our dining room. Because I am constantly pulling items for recipes and content, bins were always being opened and rarely put back the same way. The result was a space that felt cluttered, overwhelming, and uninspiring. I found myself avoiding it whenever I could.

What finally made you reach out for help?

There came a point where I knew I needed help. I love organizing, but I needed that push to really focus on solving the space and fixing it with a thoughtful plan. What I needed were extra hands and a clear timeline to actually get it done. As a business owner and a mom running a full creative operation from home, I just could not carve out the time or mental energy to tackle it on my own.

What was it like when the team walked in?

I felt immediate relief. Your team brought a clear vision, a thoughtful plan, and such a calm positive energy that made the entire process feel manageable. Instead of feeling overwhelmed, I felt supported. It felt like having trusted friends help you tackle something big.

Walk us through what the two days looked like.

Day one was all about sorting and purging. They emptied every bin, categorized everything inside, and helped me thoughtfully decide what to keep, donate, or let go. It was a full day of sorting but it never felt stressful. At the same time, your team’s handyman was building out a custom cabinet system and every time I walked back into the room more shelves appeared. It already started to feel like something completely different.

By day two everything really came to life. We went from over 100 bins down to 40, which felt like such a huge win. Each bin now has a designated spot in the new cabinet system with clear customizable labels so I can find exactly what I need at a glance without pulling everything out. That alone has been a game changer.

What was the moment it all clicked?

Seeing everything finally have a place — and being able to find exactly what I need instantly. What used to be cluttered and overwhelming is now clean, functional, and calm. I can see out the windows again. And because this is the first space people see when they walk into our home, it means so much that it now feels welcoming instead of chaotic.

How has it changed the way you work day to day?

This transformation goes far beyond how the space looks. I feel more creative and productive when I am in this room. I am more focused. I no longer waste time digging through bins before I can even start working. It has brought a sense of calm and control that I did not even realize I was missing. And now instead of avoiding this room, I truly love working in it again.

What would you say to someone on the fence about hiring a professional organizer?

Just do it. I put it off because I thought I could handle it myself, and honestly I love organizing. But there is a difference between knowing what needs to happen and actually having the time, the energy, and the right people to make it happen.

If you have a space that is working against you, I truly cannot recommend Getting It Done Organizing enough. This kind of transformation does not just change your home. It changes how you live in it.
